FOUNDER

RODRIGO GUTIERREZ

Corialent

12 years ago, Rodrigo decided that the Coca Colas of the world shouldn’t be the only ones who get to have all the fun in the advertising industry. He was sick of all the dull, corporate, navy blue and white B2B work out there. Business people are people too. Corialent specializes in B2B marketing that doesn’t suck. And they want to get the rest of the industry drinking that delicious KoolAid.

Goal Setting

One of the best ways to ensure success in your business is to establish a process for goal setting. Goal setting is an important tool, particularly if you're planning on achieving extremely challenging personal goals like giving up bad habits, quitting smoking or eating unhealthy foods, getting more sleep or spending more time with your family. Goal setting is more than just deciding what you want to achieve. It is also about knowing exactly how to get there and when. Here are a few simple tips for goal setting:

General Goal Setting. Before you set any goals, determine both long- and short-term goals, focusing on things that will help you achieve your long-term dreams. Write down both long-term and short-term goals on paper. Then write down and place them in an area where you can see them every day.

Short-Term Goal Setting. If you have long-term vision, then your short-term goal setting should be about achieving the short-term ones that are directly related. For example, if you're wanting to lose a certain amount of weight in the next month, write down that on your daily agenda. And then keep those goals in front of you at all times, so that you can keep track of your progress toward your ideal.

Managing Editor. Your ultimate goal is to become a managing editor, able to edit your own work. The first step is to write down your long-term vision and goals and take action to achieve them. That's how you "do" goal setting - by taking action toward achieving your ideal. So make sure that you manage your own goals by having a system for writing them down, keeping a daily journal and a system for reviewing your progress, and then referring to that journal to ensure that you're on track.

Managing Editors. How do you become a managing editor? Well, think about how you write your notes, set goals for the day or week, create action items for each task that you perform, and track your progress. Then give this same template to someone else in your business planning group who also has their own vision and goals for achieving business success. You'll both be amazed at how effective both your processes become, and you'll be more motivated to use them to achieve greater success with your company.

Organizational Skills. It is important that you understand your organizational skills as well. Often we set goals in our minds and forget about them over time. So pay attention to how you run your organization, both in the big picture and on a smaller level. Keep a daily journal, keep meeting minutes, job schedule milestones and tasks, and organize your work so that tasks can be assigned and completed as needed. When you pay attention to your organizational skills, you'll find that it becomes easier to plan your day, keep track of your progress, and grow your business successfully.

Long-Term Goals. If you are able to plan, you're on the right track. The key here is to set smart goals that will lead you to a goal achievement. The best way to do this is to set smart goals that have a compelling outcome and a deadline. Therefore, if you want to achieve a certain level of success within a specific time period, write down your short-term and long-term objectives, the date you expect each to occur, and when you expect each to be achieved.

Goal Setting for Beginners. Although you might feel like you are not capable of goal setting on your own, you are actually an advanced brain. This means you already know what you want and how to get there. Therefore, the first step in goal setting for beginners is to determine what you want and then, write it down.
